Morgan Beadlescomb and Annie Rodenfels Capture Their First National Titles at 2023 USATF 5K Championships at Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K

New York, November 4, 2023—2023 B.A.A. 5K champion Morgan Beadlescomb and three-time NCAA Division III champion Annie Rodenfels both captured their first national titles at the 2023 USA Track & Field (USTAF) 5K Championships at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday in Central Park.

Beadlescomb, 25, pulled away from the field in the final meters to finish in 13:44, his debut in the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K. Ahmed Muhumed, last year’s fourth-place finisher, was second in the men’s race in 13:47, followed by Tai Dinger in third in 13:47.

Rodenfels, 27, captured the women’s title in 15:22, after finishing fourth in the 2022 edition of the event. She was joined on the women’s podium by U.S. Olympian Rachel Smith, who was second in 15:26, and Bethany Hasz, who was third in 15:27.

Top youth athletes from across the country also competed in the USATF National Youth 5K Championships. Patrick Noonan of Massachusetts and Zariel Macchia of New York finished as the top boy and girl, winning the youth national titles.

Following in the footsteps of the professional athletes and elite youth runners, over 10,000 runners participated in the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K, including top local athletes and many runners who are also running Sunday’s TCS New York City Marathon.

Abbott, the title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, is the sponsor of the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K for the seventh time. Abbott, a global healthcare leader, helps people live more fully with life-changing technology and celebrate what’s possible with good health.

The Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K annually provides TCS New York City Marathon supporters, friends, and families the opportunity to join in on the thrill of marathon race week. The course begins on Manhattan’s east side by the United Nations, then takes runners along 42nd Street past historic Grand Central Terminal and up the world-famous Avenue of the Americas past Radio City Music Hall. It then passes through the rolling hills of Central Park before finishing at the iconic TCS New York City Marathon finish line.
